So does anyone know, for sure, if v2.3 is going to get BROKEN if I apply 10.4.9 to the G4's boot HD, like usual, or is this one good to go with the 10.4.9 update?

I'm running one of the new 7448G4 CPU's in my Digital Audio PowerMac G4, it's the newest of the new, the NewerTechnology G4 1.8GHz DP 7448 CPU, and I'm at 10.4.8 on the machine because I'm afraid to update to 10.4.9 because of CPU Director.ĬPU Director is the OWC/Powerlogix/NewerTechnology Control Panel that modulates a 7447A or 7448, or other G3 through G4 CPU's in terms of backside cache enabling & control, enabling Speculative Addressing/Access (for faster CPU response in certain situations), DNP (Dynamic Power Management) for when you're letting the Mac loaf when it doesn't need full CPU Power, and most important for those of us using the higher end CPU's, Thermal Management.ie you can see how how things are with the on-die temperature sensor on my CPU's, and if the CPU's are overheatiing, or acting normally, whatever.Īnyway, it's a really cool utility, but every update to OS X seems to "break" the previous version, and then we have to wait for OWC/NewerTech to issue a new variation, and I quite frankly LIKE CPU Director's Thermal monitoring so much that I don't want to lose its functionality EVER with this wonderful 7448 CPU that I have crunching FAHome proteins 24/7, and doing light production work for me to boot.

I can't seem to raise a human being at OWC Tech Support this afternoon without being on hold for 20 minutes, and I was hoping for an answer to the above from someone here who's running CPU Director in a G4 upgrade of some type from Powerlogix, OWC, NewerTechnology, etc.
